If I look back at all the jobs I’ve done from design, filmmaking, film marketing, community building, marketing and one thing has been constant. It’s always been about the person on the other side. The user. The audience. The community.

We create, build, pitch, design, or market because we want someone to use it, watch it, feel something from it. That’s where my Creative Producer mind really comes alive in Product Marketing. I’ve lived across industries, but I’ve always led with people first.

Design as a Way of Life...

I didn’t start out knowing I’d be in design. During college, I tried everything. HR, Business Operations at a hair brand, interning at an Audi workshop, Community Events at startup incubators. It was around 2015 when I first came across UX Design. It was new in India, upcoming and exciting, and I landed a design internship at a startup.

What pulled me in was not the title. It was the desire to solve problems. I realised very early that design isn’t just about screens. It’s a way of life. It taught me to always ask why. To look deeper. To never stop at the first solution.

My mentors shaped the way I think. We were always asking: is this really solving the user’s problem? Will they actually use this? That simple mindset of inquiry became my foundation. And it’s still how I approach everything - even now in marketing.

Storytelling From the Heart of Production

Film came next. I worked on web series and web films with big production houses. I pulled teams together, handled budgets, and took projects from paper to post.

This happened during my first official job in film production. I was asked to pitch a non-fiction web series to a client - come up with the idea, design the pitch deck, and present it, even though I had never done it before. I didn’t have all the answers, but one thing I did changed something for me: I spoke from the heart, I could tell a story that mattered.

I built the story from a personal experience. I told them why this idea mattered to me. It was raw and real, and that’s what connected. The client said yes. That moment taught me that when you care, people feel it. Storytelling doesn’t need perfection. It needs truth.

I’ve always been moved by good writing, good stories, and scripts that stay with you. That emotional thread, I carry it with me everywhere. Especially into product marketing.

Where Community Meets Strategy

Community work has always been part of my life through non-profits, old age homes, teaching kids from under deserved communities, for education causes, even volunteering during the Covid crisis. So when I took on formal roles in community building and marketing, it felt natural.

But what really clicked was realising how my creative producer brain fits into Product Marketing. Campaigns are like productions. You’re working with multiple teams, timelines, emotions, creative inputs, and of course, real users. And that’s where I thrive.

Understanding the audience, crafting the right strategy, and bringing partners into the ecosystem, these aren’t just tactics. They’re creative decisions. Being multi-skilled helps you keep the whole process human. You can spot gaps others don’t, and you start to see how a campaign can become a conversation.

Bringing It All Together: A Netflix Story

One project I loved that I was involved with was launching Netflix South Film & Series. We were bringing a big movie to the platform, but our audience wasn’t primarily online. They weren’t on Instagram or YouTube 24/7. So we went grassroots.

We worked with a well-known local artist to hand-paint a giant poster of the famous actor. It was visible. Tangible. Culturally relevant. That one activation told people, “This movie is coming to Netflix.” It was subtle, but so effective.

It worked because we respected the audience. We didn’t copy-paste a launch strategy. We made one that fit them.

So, What Does a Creative Producer Really Bring?

Creative Producers wear many hats. We’re strategic and scrappy. We dream big but execute fast. We care about the details, but we never lose sight of the bigger picture.

We understand feelings and logistics. We know how to rally teams. We know how to tell stories that connect. We’re used to asking tough questions and getting things done. And in product marketing, that mindset makes all the difference.

Where I’m Going From Here...

Right now, I’m building Bean There Collective, a community and mentorship collective helping people take the bold pivots they’ve been dreaming of. It’s a mix of strategy, storytelling, and soul.

As I build Bean There Collective and mentor others through their career/life pivots, I find myself applying go-to-market, positioning, partnership strategies in a very human way. It’s not about ticking boxes. It’s about listening, finding alignment, and launching things that actually mean something to the people they’re for. The strategies I use now are rooted in connection, not just conversion. That’s what makes this space so exciting to me.

Because people don’t remember the metric. They remember the moment you made them feel seen.
